The South Texas Youth Hockey League (STYHL) was formed in 2006 by Austin, San Antonio, Laredo and Corpus Christi youth hockey organizations to promote the growth and awareness of hockey in South Texas. The STYHL consists of teams in the Mite, Squirt, Pee Wee, Bantam and Midget Divisions. The 2007 Season has seen the addition of Rio Grande Valley and a Houston Peewee team to round out our divisions. Welcome all!

Special Notice to all Parents, Coaches, Players, and Fans:
In the Points of Emphasis 2007 through 2009 seasons USA Hockey outlines that the, “goal of USA Hockey is to promote a safe and positive playing environment for all participants while continuing to focus on skill development and enjoyment of the sport. All officials, coaches, players, parents, spectators and volunteers are encouraged to observe these “Points of Emphasis” when participating in the sport of ice hockey.”
The creation of the STYHL was to further enrich the playing experience for all of our players by giving them a competitive league in which to display the skills that they have been learning in their house programs. The 2007- 2008 season has brought new growth and renewed the competitive spirit in our programs, but it has also brought with it some troubling displays of unsportsmanlike behavior.
The STYHL adheres to the USA Hockey Zero Tolerance policy. For parents, fans and spectators what this means is that you must show absolute sportsmanship throughout the game, after the game and before the game. It is the responsibility of, “Players, coaches, officials, parents/spectators and team officials and administrators to maintain a sportsmanlike and educational atmosphere before, during and after all USA Hockey-sanctioned games.”
It is a privilege to play the sport of Hockey and we need to continue to show utmost respect for the game and what it encompasses by putting Sportsmanship first in all of our interactions with each other and the sport.
We request that you refer to the Official Rules of USA Hockey rulebook to better understand the sport that your children, your players or yourself are choosing to participate in. It will help enrich your Hockey Playing Experience and help you to better understand the game.
If parents, coaches, players, or administrators are deemed as acting in an unsportsmanlike manner they will be asked to leave the premises where the STYHL event is taking place. There is no tolerance for negative behavior within the STYHL. Further penalties or suspensions may be assessed as deemed necessary.
The STYHL is committed to enriching the playing experience of our youth players. The only acceptable atmosphere in which we will run this league is one that focuses on Sportsmanship and adhering to the USA Hockey Rules and Regulations set forth by the Governing body of USA Hockey.
